ARTIST STATEMENT

My work is inspired by my everyday surroundings and adventures.  My desire, through art, is to capture the amazing textures and vibrant colors found in ordinary objects.  I work with acrylics, most mixed directly on the canvas with various brushes and palette knives.  My paintings are often depicted by the heavy textures created by attaching items to the canvas or applying heavy mediums and acrylics. 

My abstracts are free flowing and often monochromatic accompanied with splashes of vibrant color.  I love to explore various mediums, such as, gold leaf, metallics, heavy gels, and finishing glazes of all kinds. I know a piece is completed when it achieves a sense of balance and intrigue. I feel accomplished when a viewer has a personal connection with one of my works. 

For me, painting and creating art is an exciting journey, and I love to explore all of the endless possibilities there are with creating original pieces.  I am excited about where art will take me in life. My desire is to keep an open mind to grow, inspire, admire, learn, and create.
